- Stonewood Estate is a New England style
SALT-BOX for the next millennium;
a significant architectural moment in Warren. At the confluence
of two vibrant towns, a dramatic structure pairing brick,
cedar and metal - a marriage of past and present that says
something important about Warren's and Connecticut's future
as a home of a new SALT-BOX architecture.

- features
The Stonewood Estate is located in the historic area of Warren, CT. This house responds to a new modernism by mixing the traditional salt-box style with contemporary ideas of space and function. Interior views, ceiling heights and open planning concepts allow for a multitude of functions to be housed while maintaining the quality of space that is overlooked in most homes. The scale of the spaces is slightly exaggerated to create a feeling of vastness and a (re)connection to nature. This sense of scale is also accented by the over-scaled moldings and light fixtures and these playful details provide a counter-point to the complexity of the design. The materials used were selected because of their links to the deep traditions of the salt-box and keep the sensibilities of simplicity of form and function while contrasting it with the modern ideas of glass and clear span views and bringing the outside into the house.
