TELE-FIELD
VIDEO INSTALLATION

Tele-field is a conceptual video installation of hundreds of TV's that transplant the typical relationship of 'television' to 'user' and re-inserts the overlapping field conditions of time and space as if they were a flexible, fabric-like mesh. The iconic symbol of the TV box keeps the feeling of familiarity while at the same time being displaced by a large open field. The change in scale of the personal relationship with the television and the public plaza effect of lack of personal space creates an intense emotional response. As the TV's trail off in the distance, it creates a perspectival effect which further reduces the scale and heightens the feeling of disorientation. You become surrounded by the images and TV boxes, all sitting on the ground below eye level, as you wonder thru the haphazard tele-field. The video displayed on the TV's is of other open fields creating an infinite mirror effect of being everywhere and nowhere. The video slowly changes overtime as the sky darkens, clouds move past, shadows occur, etc. which re-assembles the natural into the digital and un-real.
