'The DOME, an acronym for Developing Opportunities through Meaningful Education was founded in 1973 to challenge the myriad threats to youngsters who had fallen through the cracks of the traditional school system by creating an alternative school program.' This project is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The project is for a new street level 'digital façade' and interior renovations to include offices, library and community room. The new 'digital façade' engages with residents from the neighborhood to establish a presence and identity with The Dome. Local residents can then participate, donate and volunteer based on the activities that are happening at The Dome that week as indicated on the 'digital façade'. This 'digital façade' acts like a billboard; changing and constantly updating. The project is currently under development with fund raising ideas and strategies as part of POD's overall design intervention
